To make a change from shooting sporting events, I took my father for a day out to Heaton Park in Manchester on Sunday. Not only has the park got the normal old house and stables along with a boating lake, but it has it’s own tramway.

Sunday was the first public outing of a restored horse drawn tram the L53. The tram has not been used for 105 years, and can now been ridden by the public on selected days. L53 is a rare example of a fully restored double-deck horse tram, but it is also the only Eades reversible horse tramcar in operational condition in the world!
